Managed Networks - Cost Models

Managed networks can be costed in one of three ways: -

  1. Customer purchased equipment with annual management fee.
This is an attractive option for customers wishing to capitalise equipment, or for those customers that have all or part existing equipment (must be enterprise-class).
  2. Annual all inclusive fee per site
This option is attractive for customers who prefer a revenue-based cost that is fixed per site on an annual basis. Comino Connect commits to keep equipment updated.
  3. Prices on a per user basis, one off cost per user + annual management fee per user
The final option is attractive for customers with frequently changing network scenarios, particularly large scale remote access. In this model customers pay an initial cost per user regardless of site location. This removes from customers the massive cost differential associated with adding a user at an existing site or adding a user to a new site. An additional annual cost per user is incurred to reflect the management activities. Comino Connect commits to keep equipment updated.

Cost Values
As each managed project is very different from the last, it is impossible to offer definitive pricing. However, price clearly relates to the levels of equipment and resilience in place. As a rough guide, take the following example:

A central site with servers and 100 users. Six remote branch offices, with between 15 and 50 users at each office. Mission critical 24 hour operation of the network.

Proposed solution:
Leased lines @ the carrier cost £25,000 pa
Comino Connect Managed Wide Area Network - 100% uptime
Resilient router matrix at central office with HSRP backup.
Dual resilient remote routes with ISDN backup, all remotely managed.

Central office: £8,000 pa
Remote offices: £3,500 pa

Total Annual: £25,500pa

Alternative:
Capitalise Equipment: Over £25,000
Network Analyst: Over £25,000 p.a.
Network Engineer: Over £25,000 p.a.
